May 10, 2007 (My BirthDay) The Day I Turned 17 Years Old. Should be a Day Of Celebration.. But was Far From it and Altered The Future and Fucked Up The Reality in The Hood.. a Fight Breaks Loose In 21 Park that gets dragged into the Streets... That L-city and White Plains still Hasnt rebounded From To Great... Leaving The Summer Dry And Leaving tention in The Air With Every Person From Every Team Or Block On the Plains..
A Problem that Could Have been Advoided Just Escalated To Bigger Beefs and Problems..
..Took the Comfort Of Home away From The Hoood..
Little bit More Then a Half of year Later.. Plains aint Like It Use To Be 6 of The People That Played Parts in Building the Heart Of The City ..aint Even Able To See The Streets or Have Moved Away or in school..
...And When People are Growing Up Things Only Get Harder...
HopeFully With About a Month left To Spring With a Fresh Slant ahead of us This Year..
...we Can Make Things better then they Were Last Year... Cause This Year Im Not Tryna See To Near Deaths To My Homies... and Be Scared To Play Ball in My Own Park...

SPOT6 ALbum Review

Does Jae-Tips Rock?

In the last year in hip hop music the mix tape has become a more important vehicle for an artist to be heard than label albums. No label restrictions no legal limitations allow many artists creative freedom, which enables many to really showcase their true talent.
In the first week of 2008 we are graced with the release of one of the most anticipated independent mix tapes of the year by One of Uptowns hottest young rappers Jae Tips. Spot 6 is the first release from Jae Tips and many are wondering if this mixtape will live up to the hype it has generated.
Spot 6’s has twenty six tracks with a lot of variety and a little something for just about anyone into hip hop music. The opening track “Im back” is an intense and strong, head nodding great way to open up the mixtape. The Intensity and high energy continues with the next two tracks “come thru” and “Bend Your Back”. Both tracks have great energy and bend your back’s combination of pulsating rhythm and catchy hook give it club banger status.
The next track “Away” was also solid but seemed to slow the pace set by the first few tracks. The Pace continues to slow with the next original cut “hold it down”, a good record with a vintage feel of a mid 90s Rap and R&B collabo.
“I made you” and “do it for the ladies” were the next two cuts. “do it for the ladies” is another club friendly anthemic track with a catchy hook and another infectious beat with those snapping fingers everyone loves so much, but “I made you” made me want to skip. Tips had a nice energetic flow on this one but the hook was repetitive and the beat was flat on this one.
The Stand out track of the Album has to be “No Play CafĂ©” featuring Young Flame of the wreckhouse family. This track will no doubt ensure that hip-hop is not dead! Tips, Trinity and Flame make this fun track the best of lot by far.
Also Featured on the album are many different freestyles over industry beats. Tips shines over “hood hop”, “grindin”, “so krispy”, and “white girl”.The Freestlyes are all in good fun and are mostly cleverly done revisions of the artists songs and worth taking the time to listen.
All around the Mixtape is good but is not without its faults, but the two or three songs that made me press skip everytime really dont do much to slow the pace of an overall solid outing by Jae Tips. One thing i would say the mixtape would have benefitted from would be to adapt a less is more policy. i would have loved it just as much, if not more at 20 songs rather than 26 and i would have liked to get to know Jae Tips the person rather than Jae Tips the rapper. The mixtape doesnt really have any personal or introspective songs on it. Spot 6 shows great potential and proves that Jae Tips is a stand out artist in an age full of teenage one hit wonders and ringtone rap songs and with a price tag of a mere $4, Spot 6 just may be your biggest bargain of the year.

8/10

Play me: "no play Cafe", "bend your back", "for da ladies"
Skip me: "away", "strippers anthem", "U.T.B"
